The competency of professionals responsible for fire safety is currently under immense scrutiny. The clear view of the Grenfell Industry Response Group is that competencies in the fire safety sector need to be raised and a new level of assurance of these competencies established. 

Whilst serving in the London Fire Brigade as a Deputy Assistant Commissioner in fire safety regulation, I recognised the restricted options currently available for fire safety training, the variations in training quality and the opportunity to develop an improved offering. 

It was this experience, sharpened by a reminder of the vital importance of this training through my involvement in the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy, that motivated me to establish a company which offers superior quality and cost-effective fire safety training together with excellent customer service. 

Where fire safety competency is required, I passionately want to provide the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills that when combined with practical experience will demonstrably deliver that competency.

We have had a very successful three years providing the fire safety qualifications and have a  growing list of clients, both fire and rescue services and companies within the public and private sectors. 

We are looking for Associate Trainers who, as well as meeting the necessary technical requirements for the role, have the passion, personality, enthusiasm and energy to engage our delegates throughout the qualification programme. 

You will also have a commitment to the highest standards in training and delivery of qualifications and fully support our reputation for excellent training, customer service and going that extra mile.

• Applicants should have a Fire Service Fire Safety Role or Building Control background with practical experience of technical fire safety, ADB, BS 9999, BS 9991, fire risk assessment, auditing and enforcement, fire protection, or fire engineering

• Knowledge of prevention and protection from fire in domestic, commercial and industrial premises

• Knowledge of, fire safety principles in buildings, building materials, construction, protection systems and fire risk management systems

• Knowledge of community safety issues

• Qualified to Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety or equivalent

• A minimum of a Level 3 teaching qualification (PTLLS or AET). If you do not have this qualification you must obtain it within six months of becoming an Associate

• Excellent interpersonal and confident communication skills, easily able to inspire, engage and build a positive rapport with our clients and delegates

• A professional attitude and appearance

• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products

• You will be required to travel to and train at various venues across the UK (this will involve travel between hotels and training venues) so it is essential that you have a full UK driving licence and your own vehicle

• Above market rates of pay

• Well-paid working from home rates (e.g. preparation, marking assessments etc.)

• Paid expenses e.g. travel, accommodation and subsistence
